Norfolk Packaging Printer Invests £1 Million In State-of-the-art New Printing Press

19th November 2014

Increased capacity necessary to meet growing demand from food packaging sector

Norfolk packaging printer Polyprint has made a £1 million investment in one of the most modern flexographic printing presses in Europe – an indication of growing demand for its services, especially in the food packaging sector.

Polyprint has taken delivery of a new-generation Uteco Onyx CI eight colour press, its third Uteco Onyx press – and the greenest and fastest to date.

With a maximum speed of around 450 metres per minute, the new press is 10 per cent faster than the previous generation of Onyx presses.  The press is considerably greener, as it involves less wasted material in the set-up process.

The expanded capacity will allow Polyprint to offer greater flexibility, faster turnaround times, and handles even larger jobs.

“This is a big investment, which reflects growing demand for our services, especially from the food packaging sector,” said Polyprint managing director Jonathan Neville.  “If you are going to invest to expand your capacity, it makes sense to go the whole hog and choose the very best machine.

“By buying one of this generation of Uteco Onyx presses, we are ensuring that we remain right at the forefront of our industry, and we are future-proofing our capabilities as far as is possible.  This is now one of the most modern and sophisticated flexopresses operating anywhere in Europe.”

The new eight colour press can print up to 800mm repeat, with a print width of up to 1300mm. It has a maximum printing speed of 450 metres per minute.

Uteco is recognised as a world leader in the manufacture of printing presses and converting equipment focused on flexographic packaging solutions.  It is based near Verona in northern Italy.
